Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency (RF) ablation uses RF energy to generate heat for treating pain. Heat destroys signals within sensory nerves and effectively removes the source of pain coming from discs, joints or nerves.

Suitable for:

  • Neck pain (Cervical facet joints)
  • Low back pain (Lumbar facet joints)
  • Discogenic pain (herniated discs)
  • Sacroiliac joint pain
  • Hip pain (osteoarthritis or fractures)
  • Knee pain (osteoarthritis)
  • Coccydynia (tailbone pain)

COOLIEFâ„¢ is an innovative RF technique that allows the creation of large-volume, spherical lesions to treat nerves that cause pain. A proprietary cooling mechanism prevents excessive heating at the needle tip, thereby enlarging the treatment area to adequately remove painful nerves. It is thus more effective than the conventional RF ablation. Dr Ho is the first doctor in Asia to perform COOLIEFâ„¢ and he has been treating patients with spine, hip, knee, and shoulder pain using this technique since 2006. He has also trained hundreds of doctors from Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and the Middle East in performing COOLIEFâ„¢ for more than 15 years.
